Jeff James

b.1965--I grew up in the Baltimore area, but fled to Africa in 1997. There I discovered life and the value of photography in living a full one. After returning to the US in 2006, I assembled the body of work "13 Months of Sunshine" which compiles my perceptions of Ethiopia as a nation rich in culture and history, yet one that also struggles with extreme poverty and issues related to development.

My gallery, "Bedtime Stories", was born out of a compromise. As a photographer for Rosetta Stone and father and husband, time to pursue personal projects became impossible. So, I turned the camera on my family, seeing them as subjects who could represent something both deeply personal and universally meaningful.

My day job is for Rosetta Stone Ltd., the language learning company. I manage their photography department and shoot for their products. Each image in this gallery was designed to teach a line of script as part of the leveled language learning program.

I also photograph weddings, and enjoy doing so. I love documenting the day as it unfolds -- witnessing wedding day anxiety meld into astonishment and then joy. If you are interested in knowing more, just fill in the information on my contact page and I'll get back to you within 24 hours.

Please also check out my blog where you will find a continuous stream of my personal work -- the photographs that move me in indefinable ways.

Thank you for viewing my work.
